Keystrokes never leave your device. Cat Detected is built so your typing stays on your computer.

What the extension processes

• Key presses are scored inside the page you are using to decide whether a burst looks like a cat on the keyboard.
• While a "Cat detected" pop-up is open, a short in-memory buffer may be kept so the paw burst can be removed. It is discarded when you close the pop-up.
• Keystroke content is never sent to any server, including our payment provider.
• What you type is never saved to disk or to sync storage.

What is stored

Only settings and counts, saved in chrome.storage.local on your own browser profile:

• Whether protection is on
• Sensitivity (Low, Medium or High)
• Sites where you turned detection off
• Today's paw event count (a number, never the text)
• Whether the welcome page has been shown
• Your cached Pro status (paid or not paid, with a timestamp)

Network use

Detection, the pop-up and the send blocker make no network requests. The only network use is checking your Pro purchase status through ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com), which uses Stripe for payments. This is used to check whether you have paid, open checkout, or restore a purchase on another browser profile. It never includes keystroke content.

Purchases and your email

Your email address is collected only when you buy Pro, and it is collected by ExtensionPay and Stripe to process the payment and let you restore your purchase. Their handling of payment data is covered by their own privacy policies.

No analytics

Cat Detected has no analytics, no tracking and no ads. This website has no trackers or analytics either.

Permissions

• storage: saves the local settings, counts and Pro status above.
• activeTab: reads the current site's name when you choose "Turn off on this site".

The extension runs on web pages so it can detect paws there. A separate script on extensionpay.com only confirms that checkout finished and never receives keystrokes from other sites.
